Dave IrelandDave Ireland, Chair

As Chair since the Group’s inception, Dave has been instrumental in building the program.  Dave is also the Managing Director of the Centre for Biodiversity at the Royal Ontario Museum.  He is responsible for delivering programs, projects and partnerships that help people understand and conserve biodiversity.  His role is help internal teams work with each other toward unified and focused goals, and to represent the Centre of Discovery in Biodiversity with all external partners.


Mandy Karch, Coordinator

As Coordinator of the Group since its formation in 2009, Mandy has been responsible for the growing list of partnerships, projects and members OREG has developed with the ultimate goal of protecting biodiversity from the threats of roads.  By facilitating collaborations among partners, under Mandy’s guidance, OREG is successfully resolving road ecology issues through policy, research and public engagement initiatives.


Nicole Richards, Administration

As the Coordinator of the Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity at the Royal Ontario Museum, Nicole passionately educates and engages the public in all matters related to biodiversity.  Leading museum run programs such as Partners in Protection that features conservation organizations that promote citizen science as well as projects in the field like the Ontario Bioblitz initiatives, Nicole reaches a broad and diverse audience and empowers people to contribute positively to the natural world.


Jackie Scott, Administration

Jackie is the Terrestrial and Wildlife Resources Analyst with the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority (CLOCA) and has been an active OREG Member since the Group’s initiation.  She has been actively involved in road ecology since 2006 with her work on the Victoria Road Widening Project and most recently in developing a Wildlife Corridor Action Plan for CLOCA.


John Urquhart, Administration

John is the principal at Blazing Star Environmental, a consulting agency dedicated to ensure Ontario is a prosperous province where families and communities have parks and natural areas to explore, clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. John contributes to protecting Ontario’s green spaces and ecosystems by delivering expert scientific advice and services to clients.
